Polka Dot Halloween!

DKD wm.IMG_82281

As you all know, I don’t like “scary” Halloween anything…but I sure do like these Polka Dots for Halloween!  As a matter of fact, this is in the top running of my Halloween cards I’ll be sending out to all my friends and family.  It’s thrilled to be in the top 5 and as you can see by now I’ve been sharing with you a fair amount of Halloween cards lately…tis the time for all things “spooky” and “cute,” too!  This in my opinion in case you are wondering…is CUTE! 🙂  Not scary one little bit.

It’s a super fun and super easy card to put together!  So here goes!

Debbie’s Details: the deets!

Card Base – Basic Black – Tangelo Twist, next layer – Very Vanilla – Tangelo Twist – Very Vanilla – Basic Black – Very Vanilla – I love layering cards.  Especially when you want to make a “focal point” impression on the image or the sentiment you are using.  Here, it’s the Happy Happy Halloween sentiment from the Sweet Hauntings stamp set.  I know, I used it again!  You are so swift to remember that.  YAY!  It’s just a cool stamp set because you can use a punch to punch out THREE of the sentiments from the infamous NOTE TAG punch.  How easy.  And delightful! I used Tangelo Twist ink to stamp the sentiment to match the card stock I used.

Dimensionals were used to “pop up” the sentiment and give “dimension!”  I tied a Very Vanilla bow from the THICK Very Vanilla baker’s twine to make the card even SWEETER! So sweet.

The POLKA DOT paper is from the Happy Hauntings Designer series pack which I adore this paper this season in the Holiday Catalog for Halloween!  It’s just really nice and I like the Very Vanilla, too, it’s not as bright as White and tones things down a bit for Halloween creations. 🙂

If you’re sitting on the fence wondering if you will be sending out any Halloween cards this year, because you usually don’t send out any, this is pretty darn cute and really quick to make. It really is.  So, why don’t you think of it for this year and surprise your family and friends, make and send!  They will love you forever for thinking of them and reminding them that it’s Halloween time just in case they don’t know it.  Wouldn’t that be nice of you?   Then write a sweet little note and make their day!  Below are the fixins’ for this card, click on my little shopping cart and it will take you straight to the items to make this cutie for a card!

DKD wm.IMG_82292

Hope you liked my card today and will think of sending some Halloween cards this year, it will be their “TREAT!” How SWEET!  (I’m a poet from a former life).

Banner Halloween fun!

IMG_8226 I am not one for bugs.  At all.     But, I really wanted to showcase our Halloween designer series paper featuring this very ugly spider.  And those horrifying webs!  In person, this spiders looks “real” on this paper.  Trust me. EEEEEKKKK!!!! So, since the spiders are horrifying ugly the banners are not.  They are so sweet because they are “mini” banners!

Here’s the Debbie’s Details so you can be in the “KNOW!” ~ Tangelo Twist was the “orange” paper of choice.  Next up, the DSP (remember, this means designer series paper), the paper is called Happy Haunting dsp, page 47 of the HOLIDAY CATALOG!  This whole package is awesome because the designs are so vivid and bright. I punched the banners out with our banner punch, page 166. He’s a little guy.

I used the Banner Banter stamp set, I think the designs are perfect for this card and really ANY card as they are versatile.  You could also put an embellishment on the black solid pieces if you wanted to.  I strung this banner using the Linen thread and ties itty bitty bows on the ends. I then decided I wanted even more dimension besides the banners, so I pulled out SWEET HAUNTINGS stamp set that matches with the Happy Hauntings paper above.  I fussy cut the bottles after I stamped them.  It didn’t take but a quick second.  I’m serious with you on that. I placed them with the trusty dimensionals to give a pop up effect and it turned out pretty darn cute after all.  I used the Happy Halloween from the And Many More Stamp Set! I rely on this stamp set for many, many cards.  Very versatile and the fonts are all different which is nice. DKD wm.IMG_82251 I hope you like the “spider” paper today!  Scary.

Thanks so much for your visit and do come back! Happy Weekend!  It’s Fall, weather is quite chilly here and the leaves are turning their gorgeous colors here. Time for Apple Cider and a good movie, oh and a small bowl of Apple Crisp!

Take care and happy stampin!

An Autumn “Thankful” card

The Fall holidays are upon us!  Fall is my very favorite season of all.  The leaves are turning their brilliant golden, rust, red and warm, earthy colors.  Aren’t they extraordinary?  It is just breathtaking to see some of these trees, especially if you live in certain parts of the U.S. where those trees are unbelievably gorgeous.  I haven’t had the opportunity to venture up to the New England states in the Fall YET, but I sure plan to! Fall means sitting by the fireplace, romping in the crispy leaves on the ground on a cool Fall day, pumpkins, apple cider, warm fuzzy socks, light loungey sweater and jeans.  Oh and hot Apple Crisp!  Yes, can’t forget hot apple crisp from all those golden apples that have fresh fallen from their beautiful tree branch.  Okay…I’m getting hungry now, so I better hurry and get this post written so I can go spring for an apple and dream of hot Apple Crisp!  It will be on the menu in the coming week! For sure, guaranteed.

Here’s the scoopy doop better known as:

Debbie’s Details:  (deets!)

I am in love with the font on this sentiment ~ THANKFUL.  Isn’t is just gorgeous and alone standing in all its glory?  It is from one of the Hosts sets that feature a few other seasons. You will see this set at the back of the Holiday catty.  If you reach a certain amount of Host dollars on your order, you will have the option of ordering this beautiful set.   I will be using this quite a bit, so you will see it more than once.  Isn’t that exciting, though?!  🙂

I actually stamped all the leaves you see here!  Yes, with a leaf image from A Little Something stamp set!  That one, also has images to use for the other upcoming holidays, too!  This is just an awesome Holiday catalog and if you don’t have it in your hot little mitts, then let me know.  I sad if you don’t.  You are MISSING out!  I took that little stamp, it has five tee NIGHntsy (means super cute and tiny!) leaves on it. (this is a word, a Debbie Dean word, you can feel free to add it to your vocabulary brain tank), I inked it up with Cajun Craze!  A great Fall color! I used Very Vanilla for the top layer and then cropped out using my Ovals Framelits for both the Early Expresso and the Very Vanilla layer using them!  They nest so nicely, don’t cha think?

I used Early Expresso for the card base, then Very Vanilla and then CAJUN CRAZE and embossed with our Woodgrain embossing folder.  It is one of my “go to” embossing folders because I love the look and I like vintage, woodsy things, too!

Do you see the oh so adorable ACORN?  I thought you did and I bet you’re wondering how did I get that all cut out so perfectly, right?  I used our NEW Acorn punch!  It is in a bundle with the stamp set Acorny Thank You!  New in the Holiday catalog!  Woo hoo! I punched the bottom piece out of Cajun Craze and then ran it through the Woodgrain embossing folder for some texture and then decided to punch out the top piece with our NEW corrugated Kraft paper to also give a bit more texture!  I place the little wooden leaf embellishment atop and tied a cute bow using the gold/very vanilla baker’s twine to give it a little pizazz! (with that gold in it, just makes it a bit more special!)

The top layer piece I used dimensionals and for the cute Acorn, too.  Dimensionals!  Gives a pop up look and can make your cards pop up and be proud to show the world!  And it makes them happy, too.  🙂

Waiting for you.

DKD wm.IMG_82132

For me, when I first caught a glance with my eye this sentiment “waiting for you,” it made me instantly think of military families, the wife or the husband waiting for their spouses safe return back to their home and families.  Or simply someone missing someone special that has traveled abroad for their jobs, missions or other important reasons for which they are not with us. Just missing them and waiting for them~ to return safely back to us.

Perhaps in relationships, the pair parts ways…and the one left behind….will wait for as long as it takes for their love to come back…to them…sometimes that’s the case in relationships….but nevertheless, it is a sentiment you don’t see often in the stamping world of stamp sets or at least in my world of stamping goodness.  I wanted to create this card for those of you for which this might apply.  Let’s move along to the details. 🙂

Debbie’s Details:

Just a few stamp sets, yikes!  More than even three!  If you could see my crafting space right now, you might just fall over!  All kinds of ink color pads, stamp sets galore, a bunch of acrylic blocks of various sizes….goodness!  But, that’s how I create, really…I start out with one idea and usually it goes awry because I have my mind with a gazillion ideas going on in it…why don’t I try this?  Or this might be better for the message I want to convey?  Ever get like this in your crafting space?  Oh good, we are just alike!   Sweet!

SO ~ here are the stamp sets!  Sheltering Tree for the tree AND the darling swing ~Work of Art for the green “grass.” Over the Rainbow (this is SUCH a lovely set!!), and A Little Something stamp set!  That’s a bit of stamps, huh?  I love it when I have what I need when that light bulb idea goes off when I’m stamping!!  Yes?

Main colors here are Crushed Curry for the base, layered with Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry and my images are all on Very Vanilla card stock.

THE SWING ~ the swing represents someone special is not there on it to brighten our life and make our days fulfilled and happy.  I hope you saw right off the significance of that precious swing.  I have a feeling you got that.  🙂  Did you ever swing on an old wooden swing board for the bottom and rope, like real rope?  Gone are those days with those types of “homemade” swings and in with the “New!”

The LEAVES ~ I just stamped and “sprinkled” them all around and then lined up my SWING on the tree branch afterwards.

I used Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry ink pads for the leaves, I stamped off one time.  What does that mean, you wonder?  Well, you ink your stamp up pretty good, then have a scrap sheet to stamp it on THEN you stamp on your card stock!  I didn’t want those leaves looking to bright as you all know by now that we are in the FALL season and while the leaves turn their magical, spectacular colors, I didn’t want mine to be BRIGHT.  I added some Candy Dots (their an accessory item at the back of the Annual Catalog to give a sum thin’ sum thin’ and add some texture to the card image front.

Yes, that’s right.  I LOVE FALL!  Happy Fall, Y’all!!

DKD wm.IMG_82121

Love you to Pieces!

DKD wm.IMG_82056

Do you just know that feeling when you just “love someone to pieces?”  They’re so adorable, so sweet, so kind, fun to be around always, thoughtful, giving, loving, I could go on and on about this meaning, I think…so when I saw this sentiment in the Sweet Stack stamp set in the Annual Catalog p.66, it was going to find a home on my stamp shelf.  🙂  It is the stamp set that has the swirly gigs from an earlier card I did a few months ago.  I love quite a few people “to pieces!”  Too many to name and I know you care, but you want to see more about my card, right?  Okay!

Going to hop to the deets!

Debbie’s Details:

If you look real, real, real close you will see that I embossed the Blackberry Bliss top layer with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder, so classy and elegant.  Blackberry Bliss card stock and ink is so lush, warm, and a very elegant color, IMO.  What do you think?

Blackberry Bliss was the chosen lucky card base for today.  It was screaming “happy!” Then a layer of Very Vanilla about 1/4″ less and then voila, my final and top layer.  My FINAL answer.  My FINAL layer.  I wanted to “accent” that beautiful top layer with the 5/8″ Striped Cotton ribbon, it is so nice on the “canvas” ribbon (but it’s cotton)!

Flowers!  Lovely little blackberry flowers!  Are you gettin’ hungry now for some blackberries?  I thought so, me too!   I stamped these beauties using the large Flower from Crazy About You stamp set!  Isn’t that ironic, I used the Flower from this set from a wonderful stamp set that’s called Crazy About YOU which also coincides with my sentiment!!  I didn’t even think about that, but sometimes you just get “smart” when you don’t even KNOW you are.  Crazy.

I punched the trio out using my Flower Medallion PUNCH!  It just punches perfectly.  Love that flower punch.  You can use the punch without using the stamp set.  Did you realize that??  You’re very welcome, my friend.

I used the Tags and Labels framelits!  The small one in one of the trios in this array of awesomeness! Those tags and labels works with a gazillion sentiments and images!!  Check them out and snatch them up.  You will find you use them way more than you might think.  Think Holiday tags for gift giving. See??????!!!!

Topped off the center of my flowers with the perfect “bling.”  Lovely, sparkly rhinestones!

I betcha you can think of a cutie pie in your life that you just love to pieces.  There is NO age limit to who you can “love to pieces!”  That’s right.  No age limit.  You could stamp this sentiment and crop out and tuck in your sweet child’s lunch box or just leave one by their cereal bowl in the morning.  Or just make a sweet gift tag and leave by grandma’s reading glasses on the table, or make all your Valentine’s day cards to send to your friends that love you to pieces, too!  Wink. Wink!!!  You get the picture!  🙂

IMG_8198

And don’t forget to add that “special” YOU touch to all your cards with the amazing envelope liners.  It’s just kinda “snazzes” up that beautiful, thoughtful card you just CREATED!  YAY!
